In 2012, City Life Church and City Life Centre launched Project Connect with an objective to complete 50 unique acts of service that met a practical need for a person, family or group who were in our city but not connected to our church. Our larger goal was to teach ourselves to see and respond to the needs that were presented to us daily through our friends, family members, neighbours and co-workers. Through kindness, compassion and generosity, we would show the love of Jesus to others in our world in a simple and practical way.
Project Connect sparked a kindness revolution in our church family. People began to see, respond and create amazing opportunities to serve others in moments of their need. Some led to tearful conversations, prayerful moments and new friendships. Others were done quietly and anonymously. All were done to show the extravagant love of Jesus to those who do not know or serve Him. Although we did not meet our stated goal of 50 individual acts, the greater purpose of this unique endeavour was achieved. It changed us. It helped us see our world differently. It made us see that showing the love of Jesus to others isn't as difficult as we once thought. It inspired us to allow selfless service to be the bridge over which the message of the gospel crossed into peoples' lives and realities.
Project Connect is now officially completed, but the spirit and vision it birthed remains alive and growing in our hearts. Below are the documented accounts of our stories. We hope they inspire you to create some of your own.
